Find that someone.

Critical thinking. Something that’s clearly lacking from the education system in Asia. These education systems seem to be saying ‘critical thinking’ is secondary and can wait until college. Well, by the time the kids get to college, it’s almost too late. I say almost because it’s really not as far as the human capacity is concerned but then again the likelihood of the kids embracing and adopting and utilizing its faculties within themselves are made that much slim to none. All by the rotten education system that is so densely molded by unconscious nationalism. And the blame is not solely on the government or the board of education; the government bodies are usually well aware of the issue.

Unconscious & Conscious Nationalism

The great majority(in Asia, especially of the young) belong in the unconscious nationalist group, aware of neither the self nor their own nationalism. They took what they were told at face value about who or what they are and never doubted or questioned the validity of it. In many cases, it’s all forgotten about and stored in the unconscious memory bank and they’re just too damn busy with their lives to be bothered with such lofty an idea as logic. Indoctrination went without a hiccup. Propaganda in full bloom. Now the thing’s got a life of its own with the entire population jumping up to partake in its glory.

Conscious nationalists would include all the politicians from both ends of the spectrum to everything in between, those registered to the “nationalist” party(or similar/equivalent), and those in various fields with high and strict code of ethics that may not be politically engaged but are acutely aware of their own values and principles that include those of serving the greater good of their (respective) country.

In Closing

Well. While paying due taxes/services to the country one resides/was born in, and even being grateful and affectionate towards its overall culture and history(which are always, without exception, laden with fabrications and myths), are all acceptable and/or legally mandatory, it’s a different ball park altogether to identify and actually believe oneself and others to be an Australian, Chinese, etc. It’s the fucking land, skin, hair and sex you happened to be born in/with. It’s what’s required legally on your passport and IDs for social convenience & other purposes, NOT who you are. Unless of course you think you’re just a mix of strands of DNA and other elements and organs. It’s fucking dumb but at least we’re getting somewhere. Let's go there for a sec. Who or what operates this machine of “you” consisting these various elements? The brain? The heart? The gut? Aren’t they also themselves parts of the machine? Is it God? Does Holland have a different God than Sudan? And if it’s God or some sort of a God operating “your” machine, where is “You”?

Stoke that fire of reason. It’ll make you highly unpopular and dislikable. Especially in Asia. Maybe that’s why it’s important to find that special someone while you’re still young and dumb and full of you-know-what.
